Dawn of another Night ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ what must I do now? look at the stars as they shine ask why they twinkle, or are they dying? or find out, how many were lovers and how many are lying envy the moonbeams, thy companions in bed or count the breaths, deserting thy breast explore the veins beyond this watery dress or blow into thy hairs an invisible caress and ponder over what thy heart hides or how many tears left these eyes or sit like a cherub beside thy ear and whisper dreams for thy eyes to hear but would it not all be in vain? why let passions, by sleep be slain? must thou sleep tonight again as thou did the night before, and before as the sun reclined beyond the starry plane must thy eyes be faithless as the sun wanes and thy breath turn cold as ice should thy love abandon my heart tonight but why can we not love? like we did when the sky turned bright and the sun shone, after the morning rain when the trees filtered a shadowy light and the birds traded songs for thy smiles with thou in my arms like a child spoilt my fingers cavorted thy silken coils water drops dripped from leafy foils and hung quivering at thy ear’s wane fearing a fall worse than Adam’s shame how they were poised at thy ear’s end as sparkling earring’s twain and thy eyes wandered all over my face trying to solve an intricate chess game and probing for a place to light the flame but when thy lips did set it ablaze Hell burned, but not with half the rage and thy heart I had, a bird in a cage was a holy book ope, with just one page but so fervent was my love for this maid that I could feel thy shadow in the shade thou were, but a lone blossom in the glade so we lay, and loved till the end of day and God must have asked so, but was it wise? to have made woman, to lead man astray but now thy eyes lose the glow and thou bid love to go away and let thy head rest on a pillow but let it, in thy lover’s arms stay enclose me in the glitter of thy eyes in them condemn me forever to lie but why don’t we sit, staring at the stars? ask, who they might be, what they are? for they are here but to please thy sight to take a peek at thy pretty face, and ask what star shines from that window bright? why has it has descended upon the world? for mortals to relish its loving light and now if thou sleep these hours they shall confine thee in their tall towers would thou but, be chased by a million stars? and infect the sky with infernal spite move them from where they were placed by God and set Heavens wrong, so they never be right for lovers whose love is spurned become souls of the sky, destined to burn and if love must wait till morn’s light beyond the stars would my shining face hide and yearn forever, for a star like thee beside a beloved made of honey and wine with locks, captivating as serpent’s coils and eyes as potent as a poisoned phial with embraces warmer than Hell’s clime and a voice mellower than Mozart’s chimes but words sacred than any book divine for thy love can but eclipse, all that is in Perdition and Paradise sublime and thou want to part, leaving me with this! but a true beloved has none to keep for one kiss is from the concubine and a harlot might cater for nine but believe me, they will never rain and from the maid thou could summon twain from the wife they are all mundane but when they invade from thy mouth and the links lock to form a chain around my body, in and out from thy lips they’d be, a beloved’s bane to deliver death, to the lover who feigns so rest assured thy lover’s heart is true else his face had turned as the sapphire blue and should thou close those eyes again must thou love the pillow below thy face? but it’s the mask of the coiled Snake and alas my Eve’s a flower still chaste prone to pluck, the drowsy fruit to taste but thy lovers arms are a pool of snowflakes float in them as a lotus in a lake and let my breaths blow like caressing waves to keep a dreamy beloved awake and no better dream could come to thee for thy dreams can’t better thy sight and all thy wishes beside thee lie so save thy dreams for another night and let thy lover live for thy eyes as mortals are born, so mortals must die for sleep is as deceptive as Paradise and as water that turns to ice and to vapour too, it leaves disguised thy life, a sun that creeps a mountain’s crest thy lover must guard like a treasure chest but it hovers by a string of frail breaths one by one they skip thy breast until the last, opens the door to death and every Adam needs an Eve but here thou are, and there thou leave now I am glad, and then I grieve when death does, thy slumber cheat and I lose thy feel bereft of the sound of thy heartbeats and thy eyes that are, of love replete must thou leave a lover to his woes and lead the way to Purgatorio to be on some distant shore where the marks left by thy feet are erased by the sea’s flow when thou ascend to an unseen world where there are nothing but souls so heed my words but have thy way fate holds thy life in its sway and death is but a blink away alas, my words are but worthless drops of dew thy heart heeds but thy eyes refuse as always, thou must win and I must lose and I must sleep too, as it seems and content being, a lover in thy dreams and if death does pay a visit bid it go, lovers have no time for it and if it does insist bid it go summon the philosopher or the priest, or the prostitute or better yet, the philanderer for when its time for us lovers we’ll come, when Heaven’s gold disappears when poets drop their pens out of fear when all but one beloved, become insincere and the rivers turn to a trail of tears the Devil surrenders his shield and spear but not before, not a moment before thy tender kiss lasts longer than an year I feel thy eyes will not last much more soon you’ll tread into the land of lore and cross through the enchanted door now they close like the sunflower but promise me they’ll open at love’s hour but I shall wait here for a while and adore thy face and thy sleeping smile but soon I’ll ascend, above the sky’s reach and tread with thee, the long sleepy miles for the empire you’re in is laden with guile and there’ll be time again after the light when the maid turns, the beloved unwise and flames crave for freedom in thy eyes as leaves sprout, panting through the melting ice and the moon shines again, a pearly white and the stars bow down and say but here’s dawn, for another night ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Birth sign: Not entered
