Held in the Night

by K.D. Mc Entire - Not entered

I never will forget
the way you held me until the dwan
creeping like a summer shadow
warned us of the coming day
nor will i soon lose the feel of your strong arms around me
your finger laced in mine
my pale skin a relief against the black leather of your jacket
I remember the light shining just so
slanting softly across your face
much like my nails
resting on your crooked smile
my mind relives the feel of your lips briefly touching mine
and the urgency concealed in your butterfly touch
you traced my skin
telling me you were touching
your dreams
and living your fantasy
the smell of you clings to my jacket
heady and strong
the musk of that summer night
I inhale deeply
drawing you into my lungs
releasing you on a puff of air
so as the image of my hands clasping your shoulders fades
i close my eyes and await the dusk
and hope you will return
to hold me in the night
