Instinct and Emotion

by Sonya *cancer* - Not entered

The wind has blown the candle out
As mem'ry fades away
A lonely cricket creaks about
The only one who stayed

She sits beneath the broken planks
Of what was once her home
A river overflowed its banks
And left a girl alone

The flood has come and gone and then
The town has not returned
They all packed up and left just when
A ravished Earth grew stern

Abuse and hate had took its toll
The Earth began to fight
Against the scorn that raped her Soul
She only did what's right

Away they ran, so full of fear
Of what they all deserved
Except one girl, whos sense of sheer
Loyalty was preserved

An innocent, she'd done no wrong
And she loved Nature so
She never could have left for long
Without regret and woe

Unspoken thought transcends all talk
of love and devotion
Together girl and goddess walk
Instict and emotion

Its now been years since they left her
She's never missed them, since
The company that she prefers
Is Nature, her goddess.

Reason for writing:

Sometimes verses leak out of me and I have to sop them up with paper, to paraphrase William John Watkins. I've got more of my poems here, and of course comments are always welcome.
