A New Hope (Sweet Smile)

by Steve - Not entered

Ah, a golden turn
A twist of luck
A simple smile
Sparks thought of new hope
Unexpected
Yet so sweet
With that playful air
And that warm, dainty smile
So glowing in those eyes
Deep set in intrigue
Captivating beauty in blue
Matched by sweet crimson
Full and soft
Cottony calling
And I timidly answer
With cautious wind
But I have held this joy
Not close,
But sweetly with a smile
But fear grips tight around me
I worry it’s too late
For frequency plummets surely
Is it past chance?
Can I still hold on?
But I feel awkward
Clumsily heartstrung
For this new hope to pick me up
And let me cast
A sweet smile back

Reason for writing:

Most of my poems are written out of frustration. My one true insecurity is in relationships. Because I am afraid to
instigate them, I spend time sadly dreaming of a chance to succeed. This was written the day I met someone new, and saw a chance, which I missed, at ahppiness. I don't claim to have great writing, nor do I expect everyone to understand the emotions behind them. As long as it feels good to me, I'm happy.
