Burn

by Starluck, Scorpio - Not entered

All I want is simply nothing
Even that has its price
Cutting the filter off my cigarette
All in all the same exact vice
And in this we burn
And on these lands we feed
Consuming for more than hunger
Taking in for more than need
And it seems as if I'm complaining
And it seems I do nothing in return
And yet one image burns into my skull
Why in this must we burn
As a child I set foot in the ashes
As a young one I came into this heat
As a human I go walking
As a soul I go to seek
This is my epilogue
This is my statement burned
No matter how hard I push it
I can't make my statement heard
Am I my own evil
When you call is it you yourself that answers
Am I my own undoing
Ultimately am I the one with all that matters
And in this we burn
And on these lands we feed
Consuming for more than hunger
Taking in for more than need.

Reason for writing:

I'd just like my fair share of recognition. No more, no less.
