A Dear Friend She is like a flower's nectar sweet Her warmth burns like a thousand fires' heat Her eyes emit a bright knowledgable glow They pierce your heart and make your love only grow For this is a girl no sane male could refuse She's kind and she's caring no way she can lose This is the one men all over look for They'd see the pure heart and line up at the door Her hair is like fine silk this it is akin Smooth satin fine velvet both much like her skin Hair brown straight when wet curly when dry Lit up by blonde streaks from the sun in the sky This girl seems so innocent and so pure You wouldn't think her life could become so obscure But one day the glow was stolen from her brown eyes Her parents split loudly amid her desperate cries The heart wrenching madness it did not stop there Seems she was just tossed around with not even a care The warmth it went out one day you see She could no longer look on her life with such glee Wherever she turned was the hurt and the pain A couple months later it hit her again An accident involving close friends intensifies The pain anger and hurt which is seen in her eyes This event gripped tight like a vice on her heart She found that these friends from the Earth did depart The sweetness once found in her every word Was taken from her these events they obscured Her vision of life broken up inside her A life not worth living an insatiable blur In this past week she turned herself around Her life now points upward not into the ground She's trying to reclaim what once was hers A life that's worth living and to procure Pain anger and hurt from her life to depart Warmth kindness and caring restored in her heart. Reason for writing:
My inspiration for this poem was a very close friend whose life has been turned upside down in the past few months. Just so that everyone knows, she loved the poem. It was also submitted as an English assignment which is why it is stuck in Iambic Pentameter with Rhyming Couplets.Birth sign: Not entered
