Today was the day, That God took you away, Away from your pain, There is no one here to blame. Can you hear me, Opa? I will cherish the memories, Though the tears will keep me company, For the angels took you to a better place, How could they resist such a heart-warming face? Where are you, Opa? Peaceful music is playing in the background, It must be Heaven that you found, I played for you, a music piece, I tried my best, to say the least. Did you hear it, Opa? In my heart remains a place for you, Knowing you feel the same way too, You're one of the stars I look upon, Your pain and suffering is now gone. Are you happy up there, Opa? A bright light shines, It is your smile, Your kindness lead you down Heaven's Isle, Wait before you drift away, There's one more thing I need to say: I miss you and I love you, Opa.
Reason for writing:
I wrote this poem the night of July 5th, 1997, when my Opa (German for Grandfather) passed away. He was an incredible man, and he meant and still means a great deal to me. This is kind of a way to tell him that I still think about him, always, and saying thanks for all his love and time.Birth sign: Not entered
