god's woman

by Jeff Kyriss - Not entered

i dreamt of an angel
a spirit with blazing wings
and eyes of mercury
who spoke of giants and wizards and shooting stars
and told the story of you
god's woman
the angel opened its heart and spilled the blood of lovers on ground
for me to see, for you to be

i dreamt of an angel
a specter with searing tongue
and touch of ice
who spoke in whispers and wails and shouts
and sang the story of you
god's woman
the angel emptied its soul and inscribed the words of passion on the air
for me to read, for you to know

i dreamt of an angel
a vision with feet of iron
and mind of reason
who spoke like ospreys and whales and the wind
and wrote the story of you
god's woman
the angel wept the tears of sorrow and joy into the dust of my will
for me to drink, for you to bathe

last night i dreamt of an angel
a seraph with clothes of mist
and the memory of all
who spoke to history and future and me
and began the story of you
god's woman
the angel turned my heart from stone and my pain to hope
for me to love, for you to hold
