You and I just being friends as we always have been. We said it would last till the end. I knew it was you I'd never win! I told you all my feelings knowing you felt different. Hoping that one day you would see why all this time on you was spent. You and I just being friends as we always have been. Praying that this wasn't the end. Only wanting you to let me in! Somehow my words did hurt you. Anger was in your voice. Why do you think I love you? was all I heard above the noise. You and I just being friends as we always have been. We said it would last till the end. I knew it was you I'd never win! Tears were falling from my eyes. What did you say, I asked. Is this the beginning of lies? I thought you had said it way too fast You and I just being friends as we always have been. Then you gently reached for my hand and so quietly you let me in! I'd never been so happy! We were now together. But I quickly woke from a dream that caused my happiness to shatter. You and I just being friends as we always have been. We said it would last till the end. This is a story of a part of my life as well as a dream that I had one night. I decided to create a poem out of it, so it would never be forgotten. This poem goes out to Jeff -- Remember our friendship (and my love) will last till the end!
