My Star

by Jada Andrews - Capricorn

I glance up skyward…
A tear falls from my eye.
A small light catches my attention.
I don't know why.
It's not a very bright star,
It isn't very big,
But I feel connected to it somehow.

It twinkles up in heaven,
And it's beautiful, I know
I wish I could be up there with it,
But I know I cannot go,
I have too many things here to do
And too many important people to leave,
And even if I wanted to go to that star,
I just don't believe that I could fly.

I never could fly.

But it's enough for me to see the star…
MY star, I realize…
It's my star…shining above me in the sky.
Mine in every way.
It's not really significant to anyone or anything,
You've probably seen it before,
But you wouldn't notice it,
Only I would.

One day my star will cease to twinkle,
And I know that on that day,
I will fade from this earth,
And join it.
