She Speaks...

by Jimmy P Aries - Not entered

She speaks of love like a child speaks of Christmas,
Words skip off her tongue and weigh heavily on my shoulders.
I cannot speak like she can,
I cannot bring my-self to think in terms
Of holding hands and eternity.

To let my-self would be the end,
To give in would be my doom.

I've built a wall around my-self,
This fortress where I hide,
My strenght lies in solitude,
And letting no-one else inside.

So speak your words of love and smile and believe,
But don't look me in the eye and I will not deceive.
I'll hold your hand to-day though my fingers be cold,
I'll have held many more by the time I grow old.

Reason for writing:

Being in love and breaking and not wanting to go through it all again.
Some people fall in love too easily and end up getting hurt - I'm one of them.
Well, I WAS one of them, not any more.
