Do You Understand It?

by Chris Sheffler - Aries

Beyond the tranquillity that resides in me,
and past the disturbed belief of immortality,
I’ve made my home of mud and stone,
the chasm holds me close as I’m alone,
shimmering hyaline sing in the winter breeze,
shadow dancers bow before the hollow trees,
crushed velvet adorns the prison of treason,
ask it why and expose it’s forgotten reason...

Waves from the incessant sea,
convert things to what they are to be,
dwelling at the moment at hand,
obscurity shall cloak this land...

Never say never when forever means today,
and tomorrow’s a memory of any which way,
grains of sand fall down the glassy slide,
into the cimmerian night the dragoon shall ride,
as taken by wisdom of foolish desires,
you burn away hopes in suppressed fires,
invisible laughter carreses my intricate lies,
what is it that is you behind your eyes?

Mist falling densely about my face,
where is a dream when it’s out of place,
forgive and forget, but always retain,
these are the words of the newly insane...
