Long Staircase Of Life

by Scott Scheel - Not entered

Long Staircase of Life

up and up you go,
to where you don’t know,

round and round you walk,
nobody can talk,

steps and steps you pass,
breathing in the toxic gas,

suns and suns go by,
it only hurts your eye,

bells and bells sound ‘round,
in your ears they drum and pound,

at the top at last they fly,
the angels in the sky!

now you’re at the top,
so tired you have to stop.

the journey was treacherous and tough,
you had had about enough.

from cloud to cloud you did leap,
the unknown makes you want to weep.

you slept and slept all day,
just waiting to hear a lonely bay.

you played and played childhood games,
never changing their familiar names.

you tried and tried to adjust,
but out of your mood you can’t bust.

then when all hope had gone,
you hear the heavenly gong!

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem because life is a journey. The road may be hard to follow. You may end up with some scrapes and bruises, but in the end you will have found happiness.
