Evergreen

by Gary Moore - Sag - Not entered

EVERGREEN.
Standing naked, all alone, amidst this pouring rain,
Purge my soul of bitterness as it is washed out of my grain.
The king contrary man has gone, a child reborn in natures fold,
Stand beneath the cleansing force, impervious to the cold.
Warmed by Mother Earth as she enriches to the bone,
Expels the filth of humanity as she comes to take me home.
Embraced by the power of the elements, suckle at her breast,
I revel in this infancy, alive with renewed zest.
Tears sent from all the skies above, the means to make me clean,
Release me from this mortal coil and all suffering I have seen.
Vindicate my willingness to return from whence I came,
Avenge the fundamental complexities that drown our lives in shame.
Destroy all recollection of the collusion's that we sow,
Awaken the core of consciousness that feeds and lets us grow.
Touch upon the essence of this embryonic state,
Pale into insignificance next to this magnificence incarnate.
Our Mother Earth, so fair of form, pure but weak and tired,
Rain down on me your tears of woe for your execution they have conspired.
Lead me to your heart and soul, don’t make me toil alone,
In the purity of evergreen I hereby do atone.

Reason for writing:
