My Best Friend....Yesterday

by Kristy Saggitarius - Not entered

Just yesterday we were skating at the local rink.
And I love to reminice and think.

Yesterday they tore that rink down and put in a car lot.
Where we used to hang out. Where we met.

Almost ten years later we are here.
No closer. I live in fear.

I worry about you now. You're so mature and beautiful.
Yet there is a lot you of scary things out there and you need to be careful.

One of these days they'll get you, suck you in.
You'll have aids or be pregnant. A sin.

You're only fourteen...too young for that.
I tell you time and time again...but you seem to hide under the hat.

You're so pretty and guys like that. You keep going to them and giving them what they need.

What about what I need?
You're my best friend, I want you to be okay.

I worry that you'll contract a disease.
I am asking you please.

Where is that best friend I used to have?

Did she go away with the skating rink?
Oh, I remember, it was torn down yesterday...so were you.

Reason for writing:

My best friend is with many different guys and she's only 14.
