The Dance of Ages

by Meadow Hough (Cancer) - Not entered

I looked into your eyes,
And fell into your soul.
I stepped through space and time,
Searching for my half to make me whole.

My breath was stolen;
though I paid no attention.

I was lost in the endless abyss of your eyes-
Captured in your glow-
Overcome with my own passion.

We danced the dance of ages-
We tripped through the glory of our union.

Our bodies were present;
and so very distant.

We could not touch it, nor hear it;
but instead, see it and feel it;
breathe it and live it.

Our passion suspended us,
holding us briefly against her bosom.
Then, as quickly as it came over us,
it washed away as if a tide to sea;
leaving us with her glorious afterglow.

And so we danced the dance of ages-
And kissed the hand of rapture.

Have you danced the dance of ages?
Have you reveled in its beauty?

She is choosy in her unions,
and bound by her beliefs.

Choose your partner carefully;
Be wise in who you dance with;
Be wise in who you love.

Reason for writing:

    I wrote this after my boyfriend and I had been together only a short
time and we had a moment one evening. We looked into each other's
eye's and saw or felt something so out of this world, we knew we were
meant for each other. We've been together ever since, with a lot of
turmoil, but we've hung in there and are getting married this year.
Love can survive.
