Reception

by Steve - Not entered

Look upon the midnight sky
Start this like all the rest
Still just dreaming, still just crying
     To this I must attest
Her picture lays beside my bed
     The still frame can't condone
For I still sigh, and I still stare
     Frustrated, left alone
My chances come, my chances go
     Shot up in burning flame
Crashed and lost, out in the rain
Am I the one to blame?
Staring in a cracked mirror
     See a false reflection
What's lost is gone, all but my pride
     My arms have no reception
This dirt is grained into my hands
Can't seem to wash them clean
Let loose the quiver in my throat
Taste blood now when I scream
Still walk across the pond at night
     But now I'm sinking in
All I want are hands to hold
To see shine back a grin
The bulb is cracked, the footsteps loud
     Can hear the sandman's flight
For you I cast my only wish
     And send my love tonight

Reason for writing:

I went away for the summer, and was unable to see a girl whom I had started a relationship with. Because of my absence, we are not together. One night I was looking at her picture, wanting to be with her.
