Holding you on the edge
of sleep, my arm around your waist
like some poetic wing
taking flight is a protection
against knives on your heart.
You tread down, part
heavy clouds and descend further
now, breathing into this
soft valley, travelling down its
wet side through a dark canopy
to an emerald dream,
where deep angels sing
green melodies.
