My ring

by Bill - Not entered

A golden ring on my left hand
it speaks to me each day
it has circled around my heart and soul
and helped me find my way

It said I do and please believe
the vows I took were real
but after all the hurt you've caused
I ask will this heart heal

You used to be above reproach
my faith was true and blind
I never thought that you could be
so heartless and unkind

Deceit and lies have led your way
and for this you have no sorrow
You did not care or think of us
now but gone are our tomorrows

Why am I here, Why do I stay
each day through hurt and anger
I ask this question to myself
but cannot find an answer

Maybe it's this golden band
and the vows that once were taken
A broken heart and tarnished ring
what's left of love forsaken.
