LIVING IN THE DARK

by PMcH - Not entered

I'm not comfortable
with days growing dark
just before 5 pm -
too much darkness for me
to handle anymore.
My life is dark enough.

Somehow over the years,
I've acquired more closet space
than living space -
it's a wonder my skeletons fit at all.

There are times when I'd like to yank
those doors off their hinges,
let the light lick each corner,
expose the truth once and for all,

but I don't want to give myself away
so easily -
I like the secrecy, the darkness
that brings so much color into my life.
