Surprise Gift

by Sami Gemini - Not entered

Hooray - surprise!
in this day of same,
walking forward in rote womanhood
a chance meeting - the reunion
forty years gone, where?
dear old friend, genuinely new
your gifts so freely given, your friendship
and eyes open, hands open, my tears to you in joy,
our lifetime of away, you put my name to music;
opening my heart,
spraying images and color through and through,
some sorrow, some meditation, who was this boy?
This one so thin and with glasses rimmed,
a sprite whispering, how alike.
Now a man whose hand held mine,
and in perfect unison we set two spinning circles overlapping;
and the remembrance alone
sent enchanted sparks into the sea.
Perhaps in a lifetime of moments,
we will pull a sparkle now and then
from that sea and the revelation within
each inspired diamond;
each facet holding a part of you
and then a part of me
will be a story too sweet to read,
of a friendship shared eternally.

Reason for writing:

    Reunion with a high school friend after 40 years...this is for Loyd, my sweet loving friend. Thank you for caring and loving me and keeping a memory of me in your heart. You put the joy back in my dreams.
