One Last Wish

by Brad Gray - Not entered

I have but few things I could give

To make you see.

To make you see the pain I have.

To make you see the love I have.

Once given, cannot be taken back.

But these I cannot give to you

As they are yours already,

But you still don’t see:

The pain I have;

The love I have,

Yet you hold in your possession:

My heart, my soul.

There is no reclaiming these.

Forever are they yours.

A constant reminder

Of what would never be,

But could have been

And is not, love.

Instead my heart and soul doth bring

Eternal friendship in the least.

Grant me this,

One last wish.

Reason for writing:

Written to explain that I didn't want to lose someone forever.
