while you were sleeping the moon rose and the cool winds blew patterns of leaf-streaks, and the stars shed silken light upon a silent world of shimmering dreams but nothing, you knew. while you were sleeping the men were fighting and the cities were aflame and the cries of a thousand infants rent the air but you couldn't hear or see. while you were sleeping a boy touched the moon and heard the stars' music and an iridescent rainbow fell from sky to earth to wet the land with hues of sun-colours but you never realised. while you were sleeping others went in search of treasures and dreams and others crafted beauty and painted dawn light but you were lost in yourself. so much you missed- -while you were sleeping.
