Mother Aurora

by Anne Scorpio - Not entered

How can you apologize
for slandering someone in your mind?
Someone powerful, someone beautiful
someone whose spirit is wild and strong
the someone that has given you everything
yet you absorbed nothing
but resentment
for that one who protects you
the one who helps you
hating her because she holds you accountable
makes you feel your own conscience
slap your face
no one who cares more than her
with a fierce, passionate love
always waiting to forgive you
when you hurt her again
you want to drown in your own guilt,
you, who was so misjudging
of this innocent guide
your patient, doting
beautiful mother.

Reason for writing:

I have always had a shaky relationship with my mom.
I never understood her or listened to her story. Through
circumstances, I have suffered and it is always her that
protects me and loves me. It makes me feel horrid to think
that there was once a time when I didn't feel that I loved
her.
