The little boy yearned for something he never had

He even prayed for a man that he could call Dad

So many times the other boys would put him down

Changing his smiling happy face to tears and a frown

It was hard for him to understand what was wrong

There were times he felt he didn't belong

Just a little guy only five years old

Yet with his troubles he had a heart of gold

I got to know the little guy and his Mom

And in a short time I was calling him Tom

I guess I kind-a gave him what he never had

Cause the little guy every now and then would call me Dad

Reason for writing:

Wrote this because of a little guy I met at the park and

he touched my heart.this story is true.
