CRICKET'S REVENGE

by Claud C. Kluge - Not entered

                         CRICKET'S REVENGE

I saw a cricket this morning
But noe that cricket is dead
He did not die a natural death
He died 'cause I stepped on his head

Now I'm very sorry that I did it
'Cause his kinfolk have come in a hoard
They chirp from sundown to sunup
And they're driving me out of my guord

When these critters complete their vendetta
           Supposing I've had enough pain
I resolve to never be foolish enough
To step on a cricket again.

Reason for writing:

Probably inspired by the chirping of a cricket on a night
I was lying awake with a guilty conscience.
