I walk on the curbstone Just hover the edge The half moon slowly coming Gone are stars all but three Yet the taste is in the air There's silence in the wind On fog-crested mountains With specks of clouded light I stand on the platform The world to my voice Yet afraid to step into the light You reach out your hand To guide me along And I step up into your embrace For I'd give up this evening To hold you Let go of my treasures To see you smile You were the piece that completed my grin And I let you go Now this air and this sound Tremble your beauty To dance across my eyes And I don't think I can help this But I'm not sure I want to For the three stars still shining Are enough to light your face I'd cast off my care To bring you close to me Hold you upon these ocean waves And drift back, dreaming Into your light 8/29/98
