The Star

by brando31 - Not entered

Sitting on these steps,
I glance into the sky.
The stars shining brightly,
Oh how I wish I could fly.

A single star glimmers,
It's looking at me.
From it's awesome twinkle,
I realize what few ever see.

The star so perfect,
So rich in love.
It's beautiful grace,
As swift as a dove.

Surrounding this star,
Is total darkness.
But the star shines bright enough,
To diminish the mess.

It brightens the night,
And shows the way.
But this one lonely star,
I do not see everyday.

I only see it seldom,
When God will permit.
But when it finally comes around,
My whole life is lit.

The star sees me for who I am.
Not for what it wants me to be.
And I know, deep in my heart,
This star was meant for me.

The star loves, the star hates.
Not ever perfect.
But I accept the star for what it is,
And to it my love I elect.

Where in the sky,
Is this beautiful star?
It's neither north, nor south, nor east, nor west.
And it cannot be seen from afar.

This star is you,
It's twinkle your eyes.
You brighten my life,
Just as the star does the sky.

You love me for me,
And I feel the same.
You're always in my thoughts,
And those thoughts keep me from going insane.

One final thought dear,
Before I let you go.
A very simple fact,
That I know you know.

That star is in heaven,
And someday that's where you'll be.
You and I, in eternity together,
Wading the crystal sea.

Reason for writing:

written about the same girl that how beautiful is about. we were perfect together. but apparently she didn't think so. she broke up with me about a week after i gave her this poem.
