Back to you

by Cordelia, virgo - Not entered

Back to you

Do you think of me
	like I think of you?
Every song, Every poem,
Every voice, Every face,
Every story, Every memory,
Every laugh, Every place
	brings me back to you.

Do you wish for me
	like I wish for you?
Every phone call, Every letter,
Every email, Every message,
Every time I return home
with the glimmer of hope
that maybe you’ve come
to bear new beginnings,
but you don’t seem to want to
	bring me back to you.

Do you miss me
	like I miss you?
Every morning and evening
in my dreams and my thoughts,
Every holiday alone, Every day in a crowd,
Every meal, Every party,
Every moment of Every day
my perpetual memory
	brings me back to you.

Did you ever love me
	like I still love you?
Through it all I can’t find anger -
Only hurt and disbelief
that the promises of forever
that you made to me
will come to nothing.
My denial that you will never
	bring me back to you.

Yet I’ll keep on wishing and hoping and loving
though the chances are dim
and the pain runs so deep
that tears stain my heart
and your face haunts my sleep
and I keep denying
the truth of it all ...
that you’ll never see
how much I need
to be
	brought back to you.

Reason for writing:

This poem is my attempt to vocalize the pain of losing touch with the love of your life.
