The Angel

by Julie R. Chatman - Not entered

It’s damp and cold in here
Dark.
I see no light
I hear no sounds
Silence.
A noise; fluttering of feathers or wings
I think.
I try to see
The darkness prevents me
Fear.

I am here, my friend?
Who’s there?
I cannot see
Why can’t I see?
Help!
That’s why I am here
What?
I’ve come to guide you
Where?
Out of this hole, this loneliness

How do you know?
Silence.
Where are you?
I am here sweet child
Breath.
Who are you?
Why can’t I see you?
You will see, when you are ready
Silence.
How will I know?

You will know
Just allow yourself to feel love
Sadness.
I can’t, I’m afraid
Don’t be, just try
Your heart wants to feel
No, I won’t allow it
I refuse
Fight it, you have the power
Tears.

Close your eyes
I will show you
Just what is inside you
Fight.
Open your eyes
Look around
Where am I?
What is this place?
This is your heart
Do you see all the beauty?

I must be dead
This must be heaven
No, it isn’t
This is your world
You created this beauty
How?
It has always been a part of you
Why do I hurt?
Because you must learn
Overcome the pain
Trust again

I see you
You are beautiful
Thank you
I am a part of you
Sorrow.
You will leave
But I will always be near
Just close your eyes
Feel my presence
I feel.

You must never give up
There is too much within you
Silence.
I am sad
It will pass
Please don’t go
I must
Be strong, use your heart
It will lead you where you want to be
Fly.
