That's Just You

by Derek Dunham - Not entered

An aura of angelic lights
ascends from
your perfect form.
That is your personality.

Yet a red wave
as dark as hell itself
repells the light away.
That is your anger.

A gentle rain
falls upon you
like a beautiful mist.
That is generosity.

You put up an umbrulla
opened right up wide,
blocking out the rain.
That is your inability to trust.

You are a figure
hiding in the shadows
hoping no one will ever see.
That is your apprehension.

There is a searchlight
trying to find
your fleeing soul.
That is my help.

You don't seem to want it.
No rain, no light, no help.
None of it at all.
That's just a shame.

There is a pretty girl
standing all alone,
so damn full of hate.
That's just you.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem about an internet friend who's father walked out on her, her brother abuses her, and her mom won't listen to her. It's sad, but true (YEAH metallica!! j/k)
Thank you so much Veronica!
