A VISIT TO SPELMAN

by Thomas J. Dooley - Not entered

The building were old
But the stories they hold
Surrounded by history
I feel it stir inside of me

The turning point for many
The inspiration for many more
They come because the see there goals
Like so many others before, they hold open the doors

There I felt warm, like I belong
The inspiration I felt was strong
It was like a walk in time
I looked for a sign of those times

I walked the yards I walked the halls
There was so much, I didn't get it all
But I feel the memory in my heart
Seeing it I wished I could be apart

For a few short weeks, was a turning point for me?
It will last for me in memory
I wish I could go back to see
What affect Spelman had on me

Reason for writing:

It was during the 96 Olympics I was staying at the dorms at Spelmen college. There is a spirit there all the history is all around as I looked around. It was inspirationel.
