To a Companion

by NarC Gemini - Not entered

When I came and looked at your empty seat
a familiar person I happened to meet.

I've know you for years, warmly smiled he.
But his name refused to come to me.

He spoke of the times good and bad
And moments of frolic and philosophising we had.

He told me truly what a friend means.
Who's always beside, when everyone leaves.

When soon he left, did I finally guess
That he could only have been Loneliness.

Reason for writing:

When I missed the comapny of a close friend
