I Have No Need for a Title

by I Have No Need for a Name - Not entered

You’d better be here by the time I count to three. One. Two. Three.
All right, I’ll go. I still don’t see why.
Because, I said so, that’s why.
That’s not a good enough reason.
. . . Because I gave you the gift of life.

So, I was just sitting there at my kitchen table with the few friends I’ve accumulated over the years, and I open the huge present that I guess I thought I’d always been waiting for. I think I may have sacrificed a friend with my display of disappointment.
Wow, what was it?
I’m not sure. I’m going to try to take it back, but I don’t have a receipt.
Where’d they get it?
Ah, probably K-Mart.
You don’t need a receipt to return anything to K-Mart.
Really?
Nope. You’ll probably only get credit for it, though.
Oh.
Maybe I won’t return it. I mean, who wants to take the chance of getting something else that I might not want anyway and suffer the embarrassment of returning something twice?
True. Maybe you should keep it after all.
I wouldn’t if I didn’t have to.

Reason for writing:

Killing oneself hurts too many people.
Being born cannot be helped.
We would all be better off if we were dead.
We would all be better off if we were fish.
