October thoughts

by MDR -Leo- - Not entered

Sometimes at night
Lying there, I think
That my life is just a short, short dream
At least to me, it does seem

Mid-October the trees begin their cycle
Looking at the leaves on the trees
They remind me of the days in my life
At first their are so many, almost countless
One by one, they fall
One by one, they pass

A leaf falls
Never knowing where exactly the wind will carry it
Before coming to rest on the cold ground
A leaf lands

A day dawns
Never knowing where exactly fate will carry me
Living my life as best I know how
A day ends

Now as I look at the trees
Naked, stripped of their leaves
Resting for the winter
I know soon that I too will be
Naked, stripped of my days
Resting for an eternity

Reason for writing:

The thoughts just came too me one night...
