Early morning rise Let us not wake you now Fight with what you will Fight with what you have Hold on for this special day Sixty-two years of golden delights Special retrieves You shook the revolution You fought with warm smiles and hardy laughter It is painful to see you so crippled From earlier memories You were a big fellow Now you are merely a toothpick Tubes do no good No medicine Seems like the doctor always mispronounces The time to go So there we all wait Wait for you to die Wait for you to say something Wait for you to at least smile But we know all to well you’ve given up It runs in the family A disgrace to us I know I wish it didn’t have to be this way But you’ve had your share of everything That shimmers in this world We must not be selfish and make you stay Finally the time we leave u think you’ve found your place And you take a whisper Leave a place in our hearts And float ever so slightly to your place Like that feather you once gave me Now, I know you can hear me I know your watching over me And may I ask but this, Please be my guardian angel while you’re up there Just like you always were when you were with me. In loving memory of “JD”
