Kiss Me, Beloved

by Karen Stakem- Cancer - Not entered

KISS ME, BELOVED

Kiss me, Beloved,
Take my face between your warm hands
And let me drown in your tenderness.
Sweep me from the bonds of the earth
To soft clouds of deep desires.
Touch me with the light of your smile
And let me relish the song of your laughter.
Kiss me, Beloved,
With lips that whisper my name in soft tones,
Grasping my heart and tying it to your own
With love knots never to be severed.
Hold me to your strong body
And let me feel it tremble as does my own
As we embrace.
Kiss me, Beloved,
Take my last breath and make it your own,
For as air is life to the body,
So you are life to my soul.

                                                                Karen Stakem

Reason for writing:

I wrote it as a Valentine's card to my sweetheart.
The painting The Kiss by Francesco Hayez was my inspiration.
