THE HEART KNOWS In the space of a single moment I am able to feel what a lifetime could bring... I can hear the deepness of your laugh.. sense the frustration in your silence. The heart knows. I can feel the gentleness of your touch .... and lose myself in the depth of your eyes.. I can hear the soft whisper of an I love you from your lips... The heart knows. I can hear your voice singing in the shower...or driving down a road while you lose yourself in a melody.... I sense your anger when your decisions are more than your heart can deal with at that moment.... The heart knows. I can feel the gentle tug as your eyes grow green.... and the strong pull when you wish I were there and not here.... I hear the silent scream within.... The heart knows. I know the ache that comes with arms that are empty and lips that need to be kissed... and a hundred times we shall BOTH ask....why...why....why is it so hard... I can close my eyes and feel your presence even though you are not here.... The heart knows. I wish all things for you....things that only a lover could bring....the heat...the passion... and the release of emotion....your body warm and wet against my skin... I want to lay at your side and feel the pulse of your heart pounding against my chest... The heart knows.... I know you want these things too...and that we both must be patient with each other... we both must be sure.... and the moment tempts us...with each day we spend away from each other.....because The heart knows. While we are busy being patient...our souls are joining with inseperable power and little restraint..... Our souls scream for one another and our life seems void without the other. The heart knows. We talk of tomorrows and passion and things we will do... I talk too much and you listen with patience.... You change your life and I smile at your strength The heart knows. Each day becomes a battle that only you can fight.... I feel the pain and wish my love could be your armor We wrestle with choices and the cards fate has delt The heart knows. I reach for you ...my fingers do not find you but you are already here.... I need only look inside my heart the half of you making me whole The heart knows. We meet...two hearts join as one....I smile with completeness... I fear that this moment will end. I hear the laugh, see the smile, and LISTEN TO YOUR EYES...I feel your breath as you whisper...I love you Aly, heart and soul.... The heart knows. You tell me it can never be...and I taste the salt of your tears, as you do mine....you reassure me that I will be ok...and I struggle to be strong...handing you my heart in bits and pieces...more pain than it can hold...silent screams within..... The heart knows. You kiss me tenderly....as you walk away...out of my life....... the half of you gone...and the half that made me whole... and I hear a silent scream within... The heart REMEMBERS.
Reason for writing:
When there is an emotional meeting of heart and mind...
when words cannot be spoken...the heart talks...
and from this pain...the pain of loving and letting go
my heart spoke...and healing began.
