I say good bye to love

Say good bye to love
by RIchard Maxfield

To the pain of love I say good bye
never to hurt and never to cry.

The love I lost will not return
The tough lesson of life that I have learn.

My hope my dreams are taken away
alone in my thoughts for another day.

My hart is broken
by lies and the unspoken.

The light of day I will never see
for the ominous day you stopped loving me.

Some how I must go on to live
learn to love and learn to give.

If not for the children you and I made
life would have no meaning I could not be saved.

The love you said would never end
a thousand lives alone I must spend.

Reason for writing:

A poem wrote after my wife of 20 years left me.
