For Laura's Mother

by the fool - Not entered

As a windowpane speaks of loneliness concealed
So your silence intimates consent
to that which I have feared

She spoke of peace
  which passed understanding
             but
She left no peace
for those who did not accompany her

We
are left at the mercy of
                       a bewildered universe
         who sifts for pain
for so it was for you and I
On September 28th, 1996
when metal met fire.

Reason for writing:

my girlfriend's death in a car accident
