The Time Being

by Kate Libra - Not entered

Tell me are you saying those words
Just to know you'll have somebody there
Or does it lie deeper than words
Down inside perhaps you do care

The thought you're too good to be true
I'm afraid this has crossed my mind
So few are the days in the years
A love such as yours that I find

Oh honey please try to forgive
My doubtful and questioning heart
It's just that the last one I loved
Had taken and torn it apart

It comes down to taking a chance
The one I'm still afraid to take
And right down to that one commitment
We both are not yet able to make

Let's chill, there's no reason to rush
'Til these doubts and questions subdue
Just know for now, the time being,
I'm happy just being with you

Reason for writing:

Put this poem into a Valentine's Day card for my boyfriend. He
was going through a divorce. We didn't make it past the time being.
