He sits alone in his favorite rocker thinking of the past Thinking back oh so many years too the good times and bad The good times were few and the bad they didn't last Years of hard living and a youth he never really had He though about his first real job when he was only nine How he'd sweat in the pit for an hour just to earn a dime After a while he got good to the point were he could double One thing about his working nights it kept him out of trouble he made it through his childhood yeras graduating to his teens Bad times seemed to follow him shattering all his dreams He bumed around the country until the age of twenty In between his travels jail time he did plenty Then one day by chance he met the one who'd set him straight Funny how things happen on one's first blind date I noticed a tear running down his unshaven cheek Although his steel blue eyes told me he wasn't weak He just couldn't remember when his lady was taken Leaving him alone in a body now that's shaken To often now he sits and stares off into space As though he's looking for his ladys face Just sitting there waiting for it all to end Knowing when it's over he'll be with his best friend As I leftI turned to say I'll see you later dad Little did I know at his funeral I'd feel so dam sad (c) Si H Tam
