Fire is like a seduction: forbidden, yet I am forever drawn to its spell. Its conquering power brings me to my knees An Achilles' heel that could destroy more than just an ancient city. It is as sinful as adultery As tempting as the Godiva chocolates While being as dangerous as unmerciful knives Poised and ready to slash me to pieces This knowledge only makes my desire for the deadly fruit intensify. With all the charm and sensuality of a vampire Who hypnotizes me through my dreams. I awake, my heart beating rapidly, finding myself tangled in the sheets And it's not because of a nightmare. His eyes haunting me, calling me It's intoxicating Wanting to succumb A desperate need growing stronger Forcing me to surrender And at the end, I am the firefly who gets too close to the fire Pulling me in, luring me to the inevitable heat Where I fall away, never to be burned again In the comfort of death.
Reason for writing:
It started out being a single sentence for my English lit. class. And do you ever get that feeling, the nagging voice inside of you which never stops bothering you until you finish the story/poem perfectly? Well, that's what I had. I think they're called the Muses, or something. And this is the finished product of my daily insomnia and boredom.Birth sign: Not entered
