Divorce
by Richard Maxfield

Divorce is cruel and unfair
when one is in love and the other don’t care
years spent in love giving your all and more
what other pains does love have in store
divorce takes away , it does not give
when all is gone what reasons to live
children trying to live with only one
you do all to save a love, what more could be done
you look back over the years trying to understand
where it went wrong between a woman and a man
one takes your love then cast it away
what a cruel game love can play
when divorce comes you can never prepare
to let go, and live in despair
all that you love and all that you know
it is so hard to let it go
hurtful things said and done
when divorce comes there can be no fun
plans and dreams for tomorrow taken away
because ones love did not stay
one persons selfishness and like of respect
the other left alone to cry and reflect
I loved her with all that a man could
why then did love not stay the way that it should
divorce is cruel and unfair
when one is in love and the other don’t care

Reason for writing:

My wife of 20 years left my daughter and I. She says she does not know why. I am trying to understand it myself, but if she don't know what chance do I have of understanding.
