The Shadows

by Jessica Diane Finch, Pisces - Not entered

The Shadows

Eyes in the still darkness
Squeeze shut as she looks
Fear, rather paranoia, envelopes her;
The being in the shadows remains

The young girl continues to walk
So slowly; the muscles tense
Her breathing is short
Movement is rapid in her eyes

She hears the rustling of leaves
Whirling around, seeing nothing
Sighs, for she breathed not enough
She continues to walk

Breath is scarce; her lungs burn
Ears listen, eyes watch vigorously
Her every movement is detailed, careful
Paces were shorter, slower, cautious

She feels it, the being soffocating her
With fear, and power, no mercy
She hears its; it walks so deliberately
Tears move down the girl's face

It lunged for her, no mercy in mind
It grabs her around the waste
Drags her into the shadows
Drags her out of present, into past

She remembers; she knows the vampires
They like the night, the darkness
Each one mutilates her more
Changing the past, the present, her future

It let's her go; she crawls to the light
They won't change her need for light
Stay away from the shadows,
Bad things are in the dark.

Convincing herself; she tells no one else
The vampires have closed her mouth
The truth will be kept silent
She can never tell.

Reason for writing:

I get bored easily, and last year was the beginning of my writing career. I started writing poems to express myself. I read a story in a library book that inspired me to write a story along with it, and I made a poem about rape, though it's not the same as the story i wrote. You can find that at: http://www.spydersempire.com/forum/poetry/.
