Striving

by Kristina, Sagittarius - Not entered

I see the obstacles before me,
But am not discouraged.
I hear the criticism of the people around me,
But stand tall.
I feel the pain of failure,
But use it as a metaphor.
I hold the hand of a child,
And guide them down a happier road.
I look into the eyes of a stranger,
And use my faith to lift their spirit.
I stare into my own eyes in the mirror,
And push my self to do more.
I look again,
And still see the obstacles before me,
But also feel the satisfaction of making a difference.

Reason for writing:

At that point in time I was thinking of ways that I've helped people of my short life, and I was inspired to recognize the ways that people have responded to my random acts of kindness and how it's shown me a new way to live!
