Lost Memories 1

by Tek Forster - Sagittarius

Up in a room staring into a mirror of hidden confessions,
A scrawny child of four stares back.
Bruises and gashes cover his arms,
And a black eye secretes blood and puss.
Torn lips and flesh hanging from his teeth.
Little sister crying in the corner over to the right,
Ripped clothing skewed across the wooden floor.
Brown leather belt lying over the passageway into the hall,
Still warm and fresh.
Sobbing brother hiding under the bed sheets.
Pulled hair tossed to the ground,
Broken glass and spilled poison.
Stench of burnt grass under the door,
Turning aside next to his brother,
Whispering to his sister to be quiet.
Be quiet…you don't want them coming in here again.
Sister tip toes and slowly climbs into the bed.
Muffled voices startle the children,
Little brother begins to weep some more.
Lightening strikes,
Thunder booms,
Can remember nothing more.

Reason for writing:

I was listening to Bee Gee's greatest hits, and it just hit me. It was completed in less than three minutes and I don't know where it came from. I've been getting good reviews though. That is why I'm submitting, to get more comments and critiques.
