The Storm

by S.M. Scott - Capricorn

A flash in the distance
Moving this way
Yet captured by thoughts
Forced to stay,
The sky is dark
Filled with silent fear
I can feel its sorrow
I feel a tear,
Looking back
At the days gone past
Only wondering
How long it will last,
Seeing her body
Slowly taking form
Knowing my fate
Lies within the storm,
My dreams return
One by one
The droplets falling harder
Not wanting to run,
The water falls
Against my face
Afraid of the memories
Held in this place,
My eyes held open
Facing up to the sky
Held by my will
With the storm I cry,
I see my life
Fading into the distance
Looking past tomorrow
Breaking free of life's trance,
Feeling my soul
In the force of the rain
Wind beneath me
My conscious is slain,
Rhythm vanishes
The storm begins to fade
Waiting in the silence
Wishing it had stayed,
To hear my anger
And wash my sins
But all that it told me
Was new life begins.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem after I made out with a girl that I liked, only to discover that she had a boyfriend. It tells me that no matter how good it felt to be with her, the best thing for me was to move on.
