A Walled Heart

Walled Heart

By Richard Maxfield
4-28-99

Let love in and don’t build a wall
there is no future in that at all
if we build a wall around our heart
then love has no place to start
I know we have been hurt in the past
but trust me the pain forever will not last
I myself was done so wrong
my love has left after so long
20 plus years she left for a another man
this could not happen it was not planed
even though she took such a large part
I vowed to myself not to wall my heart
I set myself a lot of new goals
to help my heart heal all of the holes
I will make many new friends
and when love comes to start all over again
when such a large part of us dies
from a lovers cheats and so many lies
we have to stay green and not turn brown
after love has gone and let us down
I know it is so hard to trust
but some how I know that we must
not all lovers are so bad
not all lovers will leave us sad
the risk of love is never cheep
but we must all take the leap
we are not meant to spend life by ourselves
and keep our love stored on a shelf
we are made to share our life
with a husband or a wife
new growth can sprout from what once was dead
remember this and keep your head
give yourself time to heal
so much better I know you will feel
take the chance with your heart
and give love a place to start
hope for tomorrow and the day after
we will find love ,joy, peace, and laughter
