Near Heaven Within my grasp was paradise…. And like every fool before me, Did not relish the treasures that betide me.. Within my realm was an angel…. And as man with calculable erudition… Betrayed thee, such gentle creature… With abandon, I chased my dream…. And lived , as I had thought it had to be… Singly, separately and apart from thee… Grand were my triumphs, peaks reached… Far were my travels, distant my journeys… This was the moment of my soul’s demise… Birth of an existence, fate has chastised… Almost, Near Heaven, almost its portal closed…. I prayed in earnest that all not be lost… Reclaim paradise, redeem my soul… And find thee, my Angel lost … Taunted the gods, scoffed at life… Pledged my soul to the demons, for the a chance… A glimpse, a moment, a minute of a forgotten verve… Recapture near heaven… Someone, something must have heard my cries… Taken heed and hearken, all those pleas… Taken mercy, taken pity…. On a soul so distraught and lost without… Near heaven, I have thee back…. In my arms once more…. Now I recall, all the reasons … I had paradise within reach, a place, for all my seasons… I shall pleasure in loving thee… Close to my heart, embedded in my thoughts… I shall regale in being with thee… Afire with my desire, ignited with my passion… I shall love thee… Completely, utterly and unconditionally…. Wholly, not with any illiberal designs… Without reservation, without pride… As I had lived every possible avenue… Witnessed the world in every possible view… For I am this soul…. Who had paradise and fatuously…. Almost lost thee… My all.… Danielle McHenry For Arthur and Andy. Paradise regained, my hopes are bright, that I too shall find….
